Women’s economic empowerment in Bakan district of Pursat is supported by Australia and International Women for Development Agency and Gender and Development for Cambodia (GADC).
GADC was pleased to welcome Ms Sarah Law, Second Secretary of the Australian Embassy Phnom Penh, and her team for a monitoring visit to the project “ Women’s Economic Empowerment in Small-Scale Business” that is currently funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through the Australia NGO Cooperation Program (#ANCP), implemented by GADC.
This initiative is helping women transform their livelihoods. In Metoek commune, one inspiring woman entrepreneur is now strengthening her small business by improving her business skills and financial literacy. With this support, she is expanding her enterprise, increasing efficiency, and generating a more stable income to support her family.
During the visit, women participants shared their experiences in managing and growing their businesses. They highlighted increased self-confidence and strengthened capacity to plan and manage their enterprises more effectively. Through the use of the Gender Road Map (GRM) tool, women are developing practical plans that support both business growth and family well-being, aligned with gender equality principles.
The visit highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between GADC and Australian government in promoting women’s economic empowerment, improving livelihoods, and building resilience to economic challenges and climate change.
